Intraoral Camera

Dental professionals using an intraoral scanner to take precise digital impressions of a patient's teeth, with a monitor showing the scanned results in real-time.Here at Oral Surgery Specialists of Buda, we use intraoral cameras to help us look over your mouth, and keep you as healthy as we can. These cameras allow us to see different tissues in your mouth without grainy images, like older x-ray machines used to offer. We can now see precisely what is going on in your mouth, and we can show you in real time what it is that we are seeing. Then, we can come up with a specific treatment plan for you to get your oral health back up to where you need and want it to be.

What Intraoral Cameras Are Able to Offer

Intraoral cameras are small, portable cameras that give us a live look inside of your mouth. We are able to move these cameras around to see both the inside and outside of your teeth, without anything in the way. If we see a potential issue, we can take additional images of the area and see what is going on. We can also take those images and show you what we saw, so you know what is being treated and why. Having patients be able to see what is going on inside of their mouth is helpful for them to see what we are seeing, and understand what needs to be treated.

Through the use of intraoral cameras, we can see many different things in your mouth. We can see things like:
•  Lesions within your mouth
•  Tissues that are discolored
•  Cavities in your teeth
•  Gum discoloration or swelling
•  Cracks or breaks in your teeth
•  Periodontal disease
•  Gum recession

Why We Use Intraoral Cameras

We opt to use intraoral cameras here at Oral Surgery Specialists of Buda so that we can see the finer details of what is happening inside your mouth, without adding any discomfort to your visits. If we were to only use an x-ray, we may miss small details that would only show up as shadows or lines on an x-ray. By using an image, we can see what is happening, in full detail and full color. Even minor tooth discoloration can show up when we use this camera, allowing us to do more preventative dental care than ever before.

Through the use of intraoral cameras, we are now able to stop issues when they first start, instead of having to wait for them to get worse. We can take a picture of what is going on with your mouth, and discuss what the best treatment options are. Once we have determine how to proceed with your treatment, we can then fix the problem and you can return to your daily routine.
